Many industries that the USA relied upon have been sent over seas. The photograph to the right is the employee entrance to the Whitney Yarn Mill in Spartanburg, SC, USA. The mill itself, rubble in the background, has been mostly torn down.
The top thought "the world market," forgetting about the buying base of the local USA markets. It is cheaper to manufacture overseas, but people can't buy if they don't have the money to buy, even if it is cheaper.
Putting people to work here will drive up the bottom line more than lowering Cost-Of-Goods overall will, because people will have money to buy with. I predict that the most likely next big industry for the USA is the IT industry. Joe Ballenger Jr. June 17, 2004.
